Maloran entered the courtyard with only a few moments to spare. His spell should be awakening the students at any time. he would be waiting for them... in the shadows nearby... yes. He would wait and let them blunder around in the dark as he composed his speech! It was a most brilliant idea!

Khynes walked around the corner, still tired from the abrupt awakening. As he walked out of the dorm rooms into the courtyard, he passed Maloran, who was trying to wriggle deeper into the shadows in the corner. Puzzled by this, Khynes assumed that the man wanted to be late to his own meeting, and let him be. Yawning widely, he crouched down on his haunches, waiting.

Grumbling, Dev made her merry, well unmerry way to the courtyard.. She'd JUST gotten to sleep damn it! Yawning profusely, she reached into a hidden pocket on her attire, pulling out a small vial of purple liquid before unplugging the tiny bottle, and downing it. A small grin flickered to her lips once more. Nothing like a homemade energy potion on a empty stomach. Already she could feel her stomach rumbling; it's inner creature seemingly clawing at the innerds of the kitsune. Seee, always good to be prepared. Another reach into her outfit proved fruitful as she pulled out a medium sized slab of jerky! 'Mmmmm deeeeeeeeer!' she cooed inside her head.
Smileing a bit more after quickly devouring the suculant meat, she walked the rest of the way intot he courtyard, instantly spotting the mage wiggling into a shaded corner; amusing. Apparently Khynes had noticed this too judging by the confused look on his scaley features. The other three still were not awake.. Which she found slightly impossible.. Damn spells... Today she was dressed in her fighting attire, she figured she'd be needing it. Between the rude early awakening, the return of the other students; the lack there of, and the instinctive feeling.. she was probably right. "Morning Khynes.. " she said slowly to the man, her tail drooping some with her energy level...

Khynes bobbed his head at Devaki, pleased to see he was not the only person ready for battle. He was still wearing his plate armor, he slept in it often so that he would be ready whenever a fight should arise. Skraelings did not sweat to keep cool, like other races. They relied on their large lungs and intricate blood vessel system for temperature control. As a result, a skraeling could wear the same clothes for days, and the only odors would be from the environment, or anything that landed on the clothes, as the skraelings did not exude body odor when they exerted themselves. Khynes figured he had another week before he needed to clean his armor, unless something else befouled it. Khynes leaned over to Devaki, "What *hkh* isss he doing?" He said, nodding at the mage.

Lephy walked outside, shivering at the early morning chill. Unfortunatelly, not thinking, Lephy came out wearing her thin night gown, and seeing Khynes and Devaki in armor, she felt a tad bit out of place. She yawned and blinked lazily. "Wow, I'm so insanely tired, it isn't even funny.." she started, stifling another yawn. "So... um... Sir and Ma'am, where's Mr. Maloran Kenset at?" she asked.

Grinning a bit, she watched Khynes simply bobbed her head in response to her. He amused her oddly, her eyes diverting over to the old mage.... as Khynes mentioned it. In all honesty.. she had noooooooo idea. Might as well take a shot in the dark though. "Probably trying to appear ominously, or seemingly appear from no where.." she guessed, her eyes turning then the the less peppy Leppy appeared on the scene.
Giving her an odd look at her choice of clothing, she smiled softly. "Leppy.. If I promise to tell the mage your coming.. will you go change into your clothes?" she asked sweetly. Personally she wouldn't want to be stuck in her sleeping attire in this weather. Smiling slightly she pulled out a very small vial of pale purple liquid. "This is a mild energy potion, it should wake you up a bit." she said before handing her the Vial and a small pouch of cookie. "Eat them after." she said softly.

Kashal exited the academy and looked at the small gathering. At least the paladin wasnt there yet... She would be the last one there. Kashal thought of ways he could use that to his advantage somehow. Nothing overly amazing came to his mind so he dismissed the thoughts.
He wore his robes and had his satchel over his shoulder and staff in hand. He almost laughed when he saw Lephilia in her night gown. Women amazed him to no end. Why they even bothered to attempt adventuring him amazed him furhter.
Devaki however was different form normal women... She was aware, she was prepared, she was deadly. She even served Scion. He wondered the intentions of Scion by having them both there. he would have to keep his eye on her.
"Our fearless leader isn't even here?" He asked looking to Devaki.

Devaki, by now, had pulled out another piece of dried meat, and had begun nibbling on it, her eyes still on Leppy, and her less then normal attire, it amused her, but also made her worry. Sure she wasn't the epitome of an evil person, she still had compassion for those around her, well.. Until you did something to compromise her faith, life, or honor.. Then you were next to screwed. A scent hit her nose, causeing her eyes to divert from the smaller girl to the Priest.
She still wasn't totally over his rudeness at dinner last night, but she was quick to fix that, and not let it filter to her outer appearence. Smirking some, she turned her whole head to face him; he was staring at her again, and had been for quite some time by the look of it. Her large fox-like ears twitched as he spoke, so Leppy wasn't the only one to not notice the mage, who was still squirming around in his corner.
Smirking once more, she simply pointed a slender finger in the direction of the mage, her eyes showing she was clearly amused. "Oh he's here, you just have to look." she replied simply.

After changing into her normal priestess atire (MUCH more comfortable for outside), Lephy reentered the scene outside. So far, nothing changed. She was pleased at the effects of the purple liquid, and at the cookie. 'Devaki is so kind and caring and considerate!' she thought happily. 'I wanna be just like her when i grow up!' Walking over to the others, she bowed her head slightly. "Thankyou for the cookies and drink, Mrs. Devaki, ma'am!" she chirped. Then she turned to the two men. "Good morning, Mr. Kashal, sir! Good morning, Mr. Khynes, sir!"

Kashal nodded his head in acknowledgment of Lephelia's greeting. He looked in the direction Devaki had indicated. Sure enough, there was a shady figure mumbling to himself in the shadow. Kashal sighed and looked to the others.
"I hope this is not a common occurence here. I would like to get some sleep every once in a while."

"I suppose you are all wondering why you have been summoned here. And why I have concealed myself... not too well... in the shadows." He said without leaving his shadowy corner, "As many of you know... you are not the first students to come to my academy here. I have others on a quest. I sent them not knowing their goals or what they would face. I do not wish to repeat the mistake. You are all needed in the town of..." his voice trailed of. He remained silent for many long moments.
When he began to talk it was not his normal voice. It was a deep strong voice. Full of self assurence and power. Not the doubting distracted mumbling he useually had. "The town of Tristram in the far East. It was once beset by the Valordan. Myself and my comrades purged them from the place. We secured it and restored it to the people who had once dwelt there. On our return home several years later we heard it had been attacked once again. We returned... that was the final place I confronted the Valordan. The exact details of what occured there do not need to be mentioned." He fell silent once more.
When he spoke he was back to his natural voice, "Later an army saved the city. In the gruesome battle every knight fell. I know that the Valordan are once again preparing to stike it. There is still time before they do however. So I need you all to journey there. Once you have arrived I need to know what makes the place so important. I need to know why the Valordan would spend so many resources to capture this single city. You will all depart at noon.".
Once he had finished speaking he stood motionless for several minutes. Then entered the academy and vanished from sight around a corner.

Khynes bowed at Maloran's retreating back. At last he would be able to fight! That was his true calling! He had not been in battle since the incident a few months ago when his unit was wiped out. Khynes saw no point in sleeping again, and instead, drew his sword and began to swing and swipe at a nearby training dummy, never actually striking it, just preparing for the battle he felt assuredly lay ahead.

"Tristam Village?" Lephy wondered aloud, unable to stay still. The energy drink Devaki gave her was starting to kick in... and as soon as you knew it, she was running around the courtyard in circles, doing cartwheels, and any other acrobatic tricks she knew how to do. "Whata ya know! That stuff really DOES work!!!"

Noticeing that Leppy had re-entered the scene sha smiled and watched her cross over to the group once more, she that noticed that the other girl had not yet shown herself this morning. How could she not with that stupid spell. Violet-rosey eyes watched the scene before her play out, though she spoke not a word to any of them, she was a bit at a loss for words. That and she didn't trust her mouth right now. Sighing some as she listened to the mage talk, an amused smirk on her face, though she dared not mention his little escapades minutes before. She'd known about the other students, for their scents littered the dining area, and she had also wondered why they had not shown up at some point. She'd heard this story before, village gets attacked, people come to it's rescue, enemies come back, they kill them again... It was like this all across this world... nothing new to her.
Her fox-like face erupted into a large grin as she noticed Leppy running and bounding around like a jumping bean. That was her lowest dose of energy drink.. She noted to herself that it might be best if she only gave her half or fourth that dose next time. Slowly her tail wrapped around the adorable little girl, picking her off her feet carefully. Her tail would most likely be warm to the girl, so maybe she'd came down some. "Here have a few more cookies, it will weaken the energy drink just a bit more so you don't look to much like a kit with her tail on fire." she said softly, her smile still there.

Kashal's mind began to race. A village beset by the Valordan over and over. The importance had to be location. An artifact or something similar could be moved. Since they had controled it before and returned there had to be something about the location. He noted that. he would keep his eye out for things unmovable. That would be the key.
Since he had a few hours and his muscles were sore from his uncomfortable rest that night he decided to go for a swim. To relax and prepare for the journey ahead.
