Name: Khynes Pakti
Gender: Male
Race: Skraeling
Class: Shadow Knight
Allignment: Lawful Evil
Deity: Dragrael
Appearence: Khynes has three fingers and a thumb, like the rest of his race, his fingers ending in long talons, perfect for slicing and clawing. He stands 5' 6" tall when hunched over, but when he draws himself to his full hight, he is 6'8". His ears are long and tattered from fights and brawls, and he has scars everywhere as well. His speech is often unclear because of his fangs, and he sometimes stresses the wrong syllables. Also like the rest of his species, he has pure white eyes.
Age: 42
Equipment: He wears custom made platemail, with leather under-armor, crafted by Skraeling master smiths, and enchanted, resulting in lighter and stronger armor. He carries a unique bent blade sword, which he can wield one-handed, but he finds two-handed styles to be more comfortable(A human would have to wield it two handed). He also has two gladius in sheathes on his back. His weapons are enchanted like his armor, so that they are lighter and stronger.
Personality: Because he is a shadow knight, he is often mistaken to be a wanton killer. However, this is untrue, as his deity, Dragrael, forbids murder for pleasure or monetary gain. He is not easily upset, but enough badgering him and he grows violent. He is not friendly, but if he feels that someone is worth talking to he will strike up a conversation. He dislikes being insulted because of his speech impairment or appearence.
History: His mother birthed his litter when she was considered to be beyond possible breeding age, at 250 years (Skraelings can live up to 300, but usually don't). At age 8, Khynes was chosen to be one of the next generation of warriors, and he excelled at this, being particularly large for a Skraeling. When he was 15, his training settlement was raided by orcish forces, and the defensive garrison of 2,000 Skraeling warriors was slaughtered to the man. The orcs were advancing on the settlement, when a 500 strong contingent of Skraeling Shadow Knights portaled into the area, destroying the still 3,000 strong orc army.
Because of ancient Skraeling tradition, all magic users were to be killed on sight, and these traitors had risked their own lives to save those who were being bred to kill them. Regardless of his own safety, Khynes left the settlement to speak to the Shadow Knights and learn about their motives, and why they had saved them. He was surprised to learn that although they were forsworn by their people, the Skraeling Shadow Knights existed to serve the Skraeling people, and to protect them from their own blindness. Khynes was humbled by this knowledge, and asked to join their ranks. He was tested, and found capable of learning their magic. And so, he was accepted, and given the training befitting a Shadow Knight.
Over the next 27 years, Khynes rose quickly through the ranks of the Shadow Knights, becoming a Captain of his own small unit. It was shortly after this that his unit was destroyed, while on training runs, his unit was attacked by a large Valordan heavy infantry group. His Knights fought bravely, and killed three times their number before they succumbed. Khynes was not granted the honor of death in combat, he was struck unconcious, and hidden beneath the bodies of the dead.
Upon reawakening, he reported back to his superiors, and requested to be allowed to fight against the Valordan, as a matter of honor and retribution for the deaths of his Knights. His superiors disliked the idea, but proposed a compromise instead. He was to report to an academy, founded for the purpose of fighting the Valordan. Khynes was to do as the academy wished, until his services were not deemed necessary, then he was to return to the Knights, and teach them what he had learned while away. He was also to report to the High Lords as to whether or not the Academy would be a usefull ally, or if further Knights should be sent there for training.
